Walking Meditation in Public Places

We begin with a moment of standing like a tree. Feeling our deep, quiet breaths and our connection with the Earth beneath our feet.

Now, three steps for each in-breath, three steps for each out-breath. Your breath may be longer or shorter than mine, depending on your lungs’ needs. Please feel free to adjust your pace. Breathe and walk accordingly. If you take three steps when you breathe in, then say silently, “In, in, in.” If you take three steps when you breathe out, then say silently, “Out, out, out.” If your out-breath is four steps, then you can say, “Out, out, out, out.” In, in, in. Out, out, out, out. We breathe in, we make three steps. In, in, in. We breathe out, we make three steps. Out, out, out.
